DESE MOU

Our City, Our Schools. On Friday, March 13, in the middle of a public health crisis, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) released a district review report and a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the Boston Public Schools and both parties sign the MOU.

The report validates many of the concerns that education advocates have been highlighting for years, including special education and English learner needs.

Instead of offering the stability and financial supports that Boston needs, the MOU opens the door to a dangerous state takeover, like ones that have harmed communities of color around the state and country.
